Lynx FAQs
Q. Can I play PowerPoint Presentations within Lynx
A. You cannot Open a PowerPoint presentation within Lynx. However, you can easily copy and paste any information from PowerPoint into Lynx Lesson Plans.
1. Open Lynx 2. Open PowerPoint Presentation 3. Edit, Select All 4. Copy 5. Click to Lynx open on Desktop 6. Select New Page 7. Click Paste 8. Re-size to suit
Rememer, Lynx cannot bring images embedded into the PowerPoint Master over to Lynx and once transferred are viewed by Lynx as an 'image'. This means you can annotate over the page, but cannot change its original PowerPoint content. All changes should be made at the PowerPoint end before transfer.
Q. How many times can I load Lynx software from the disc I have?
A. As a single user licence, Lynx will load twice, once for a PC and once for a laptop, so that the teacher can work on lesson plans at home. In order to allow the disc to load again you will need to purchase a Lynx site licence from your dealer.
Once issued, call Sahara for activation of further downloads of the Lynx software. You should have your licence number handy as this will be required to verify you have purchased a site licence.
Q. Can I send my screen captures and/or annotations to someone who doesn’t have Lynx?
A. Yes. After making your notations click save and continue from the annotation toolbar and return to lesson book view. Then go to File, Save As HTML. Work through the wizard and click to say you wish to preview your HTML document. When this appears hover the mouse pointer over the image until the Windows toolbar appears in the top-left corner of the image (this will contain four icons; Save, Print, Email and Open My Pictures Folder). You can then either send your annotation image as an email attachment (JPEG) or Save in any of the file formats listed.
Q. How do you save reveal curtain into lesson plans?
A. Please follow these instructions:-
1. Create your Lesson Plan in the normal way in Lesson Book Mode 2. Along the bottom of the screen you will see your Thumbnail pages 3. Right mouse click on the page you wish to create a curtain for 4. You will see Delivery Options at the bottom of the list 5. Highlight Delivery Options and choose "Show curtain on Delivery"
This will enable your lesson to be presented with a curtain when you get to that page. Once you have revealed the information on that page, choose the Exit icon on the curtain toolbar and the page will be revealed without the curtain. You can then move on to the next page with the forward arrows on the toolbar and if another curtain has been set, it will appear.
Q. Can I network the Clipart which is provided with the Lynx software?
A. No. The licencing agreement you tick when you load the software does not cover use of the clipart on software other than Lynx.
Some Lynx software may still offer the option within the technical setup to load Lynx clipart to the network. This facility has, however, been disabled although in some instances the tag remains; which should be ignored. Later versions of Lynx have had this tag removed to prevent confusion. |
